Sammie Guthrie, 81, of Nashville, Tenn., died late Thursday night, Jan. 31, 2013, in the peace of her daughter's home in Marshalltown. Her death came peacefully at 11:15 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in Nashville on Saturday, Feb. 9 with visitation on Friday evening at West Harpeth. She will be laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville. There will be no Iowa services. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with caring for Sammie and her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Peggy (Forrest) Watts of Marshalltown, her grandchildren- Dr. Melissa (Dr. Jonathan) Crowder of Greenville, NC, Courtney Watts currently at Lipscomb University and Austin Watts currently at Iowa State University, her step-children- Gyni Guthrie (David) Garner of Charlotte, NC, Michael (Linda) Guthrie of Waddington, NC, step-grandchildren- Andrea Guthrie of Charlotte, Jen Guthrie (Mitch) Huber of Columbus, Ohio, Ben Garner of Nashville and great-grandson Max Huber; her siblings- Helen Ackerman (Louis) Demonbreun, Frankie Ackerman (Jim) Boyte and John Ackerman as well as many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
