Hoglan Elementary School fourth grade teacher Ryan Burke said 9-year-old Kylee Witt is one of the hardest working students he's ever taught.

"She is always pushing herself to get better in all subject areas," Burke said. "She not only wants to be her best, but is willing to do the work needed to get there."

Witt said she enjoys school because she "gets to learn and gets a good education."

Kylee Witt, 9, a fourth grader at Hoglan Elementary School, picks up a book recently at the school library.

She volunteers at the Iowa Veterans Home regularly and one day wants to work in a veterans home.

"I get to help the veterans," Witt said.

Burke believes Witt will be a success in the future.

"She continues to impress me every day," he said.
