SWALEDALE - A man that had been on the lam since mid-January is in custody after police picked him up on a burglary warrant Tuesday evening.
Police arrested Todd Hambly, 32, of Swaledale, on a warrant out of Grundy County for allegedly stealing a coin box from the car wash at Marv's Repair, in Dike.
Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning said Hambly damaged the business when he used a cutting torch to remove the coin box Jan. 18. An estimate of the damage and how much money was in the coin box was unavailable at press time.
Police charged Hambly with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, but Penning said more charges, including a likely possession of burglar's tools, could follow.
Cerro Gordo County deputies, who assisted with the investigation, returned Hambly to Grundy County where he is being held. He made an initial appearance Wednesday morning and is being held on a $20,000 bond.
Butler County Sheriff's Office also assisted Grundy County Sheriff's Office.
If found guilty, Hambly could face up to five years in prison for the burglary charge.
