Ricardo Amaya, 411 N. 12th Ave., made an initial appearance on a obstruction charge and a forgery charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 15. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Nicholas Ramirez-Martinez, 527 N. 1st St., made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance or permitting the use of a controlled substance in a structure or vehicle charge, a failure to affix a drug tax stamp charge and a possession of a controlled substance charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 19. Bond is set at $500,000 cash bond.

Stephanie Lynn Anderson, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Merrill Swartz was appointed to handle her case. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by her parole officer as his calendar permits. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

Jonathan Robert Thompson, of Le Grand, made an initial appearance on a ongoing criminal conduct charge, a burglary-third degree charge and a theft-second degree charge. The court appointed Chad Frese to represent him in these cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 19. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only.

Ramon Calderon, 2879 290th St., made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain control charge and leaving the scene of an accident charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the failure to maintain control charge the fine was $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195 due immediately. The fine on the leaving the scene of an accident charge was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately.

Wendy Hernandez, 908 S. 2nd Ave., made an initial appearance on a rabies vaccination violation charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs of a total of $147.75, due immediately.

Jose Murillo Zamora, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a unlawful passing of a school bus charge. He pleaded not guilty. The court appointed Jennie Wilson-Moore to represent him in this case. The pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on March 26.

Dale Eugene Patterson, 203 1/2 S. 3rd Ave., made an initial appearance on a possession of contraband inside the county jail charge, a possession of marijuana charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a no insurance charge and a speeding charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 22. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that Patterson obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of his release.

Richard Frank Weber Jr., 306 W. Nevada St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a theft-third degree (enhanced) charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 22. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Marissa McStockard, 424 Union St., made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree (enhanced) charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 4.

Incidents

On Monday, Lisa Naumann, 1001 W. State St., reported slash damage to two Peerless tires on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix while parked at her residence and the theft of a duct taped wallet and contents. Estimated value of loss was $323.

Citations

On Monday, Anthony M. Becker, 1104 S. 1st St., was cited for tampering with records and forgery.

On Monday, Richard Frank Weber Jr., 306 W. Nevada St., was arrested for theft-third degree and driving while barred.

Accidents

On Sunday, a car driven by Gerick Sharrell Tyler, 533 N. 3rd St. Apt. B, was eastbound on West Main Street at the intersection with Second Street when it continued into the intersection and collided with a car driven by Judith Ann Kelley, 522 N. 2nd St. Apt. #4, which had been stopped at the intersection facing south. No injuries were reported. Tyler was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield right of way sign. Damage to the Tyler car was estimated at $1,200 while the Kelley car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by an unknown driver was stopped northbound in the 100 block of North First Street when it entered the intersection and collided with the back half of a car driven by Edwin Rolando Ruano-Jaimes, 307 Harrison Dr., which was traveling west on West State Street and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ruano-Jaimes car was estimated at $1,500.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Ramon Calderon, 2879 290th St., was eastbound on South Street when he struck head-on a utility pole owned by Alliant Energy, 1911 E. Anson St., and then left the scene of the accident. Calderon contacted the police department the following day and advised that he was under the influence of alcohol and had fallen asleep at the wheel. No injuries were reported. Calderon was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to maintain control. Damage to the Calderon vehicle was estimated at $8,000 while the utility pole received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Feb. 7

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four rescues at: 9 S. 6th Ave., South Center Street, 109 N. 22nd St., and 1600 S. 2nd Ave., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 2022 Elmcrest Dr., and 712 E. Anson St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a rescue call to 1013 S. 10th Ave., two fire calls to 1301 Summit St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 605 Forest Boulevard, 402 N. 10th Ave., and 602 W. Boone St.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two medical assists with the EMS crew to 306 Melody Lane, and 711 E. Linn St.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two medical assists with the EMS crew to 1608 W. Main St., and 1803 W. State St., and six fire calls to: 308 Sugar Plum Place, 1800 Oaks Ave., 108 N. 20th St., 709 E. Main St., 210 W. Ferner St., and 106 N. 16th St.
