Rosenblum to participate in 'ILEAD USA'

Sarah Rosenblum, library director at the Marshalltown Public Library, has been selected to take part in Innovative Librarians Explore, Apply and Discover USA, a prestigious year-long program designed to help library staff understand and respond to user needs through the application of participatory technology tools and the creation of an easy-to-replicate model program.

Rosenblum will serve as a team member along with fellow Iowa librarians and participants from Illinois, Colorado, Utah and Ohio. Participants take part in three four-day sessions over the course of nine months, beginning March 25 through 28. Teams use the skills and training acquired throughout the sessions to develop, implement, manage and evaluate the project. They are assisted by instructors and mentors who provide instruction and guidance during the course of the sessions.

ICAN welcomes new partners

The Iowa College Access Network has announced the addition of new members to the organization's Partnership Program. Grinnell College and Waldorf College of Cedar Rapids are new partners of ICAN.

ICAN partners with education-minded institutions and organizations to bring comprehensive college and career readiness programming and resources to students and parents across Iowa, and to support initiatives around the state that support economic growth through increased training and education.

The ICAN Partnership Program is open to any business, organization or institution with the desire to support long-term economic growth and success for Iowa communities and citizens. Partners of the program have joined together to support ICAN's work in career and college readiness programming which is outlined in the ICAN College Access Power Plan, a suite of programs and services designed to help families better understand college and career planning, how to successfully navigate paying for college, and choosing both a college and major that are the right fit.

"For generations, Grinnell College has been committed to providing an exceptional education to some of Iowa's most talented students," said Jennifer Hursch, admission counselor with Grinnell College. "We are pleased to be partnering with ICAN to ensure that all students and parents in Iowa have access to the college and financial aid planning information necessary to effectively prepare for the future."
