Marshalltown senior guard Blake Gimbel was either first or second on his team in several statistical categories this season.
That was the main reason the Bobcat senior landed on the all-Central Iowa Conference boys basketball second team when the all-CIML squads were announced this week.

The CIC also voted for spots in each division and Gimbel was a first-team all-CIC Northern Division selection, while senior Blake Judkins earned second-team honors and senior De'Quan McDowell was an honorable mention choice.
Judkins averaged nearly nine points and three rebounds per game this year and led the team in assists with 35. McDowell scored 5.7 points per game, led the Bobcats with seven boards per contest and also tied Gimbel in blocks with 13.
West Des Moines Valley won the conference title with a 10-0 mark in league play. Iowa signee Peter Jok was one of two unanimous selections on the all-CIC first team, while Clint Boffeli represented the Tigers (18-3) on the second team.
Jok led Class 4A with a 23.6 points per game average and also grabbed 6.4 boards per game.
The other unanimous selection to the CIC first team was Dowling Catholic's Peter Odia, who averages 10 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and was second in all of Class 4A with 116 assists.
Ankeny's Ted Friedman and Bryan Sumner, Urbandale's Allen Lazard, Waukee's Michael Jacobson, Johnston's Jay Knuth and Ames' Justin Sloter also all earned spots on the CIC's first team.
Joining Gimbel on the CIC Northern Division first team were the Ames trio of Sloter, Sam Straub and Nate Munn and the Fort Dodge duo of J.C. Hatcher and Tyler Vaughn.
Marshalltown finished 6-15 overall this season and went 1-9 in CIC Conference play. The Bobcats beat Mason City twice and Fort Dodge once in Northern Division play and the tied the Dodgers with a 3-3 record. Ames (12-10) won the division title with a 6-0 mark.
