Des Moines Area Community College in Newton, Newton Development Corporation, Jasper County Economic Development Corporation and Iowa State University Extension & Outreach, Jasper County are sponsoring a free job/career fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 28 at the Newton DMACC Campus, Room 210.
"We held a job/career fair last fall and it was well attended. In a follow-up with employers who participated they encouraged us to hold another one in the spring," said NDC Executive Director, Frank Liebl. "In addition, we are now working with Iowa Workforce Development and others to hold a workshop on March 15. This workshop will focus on how to prepare a resume, work on interview skills and other aspects that are important in securing a job in today's workplace."
This "Pre" Job/Career Workshop is free, but is limited to the first 25 people and you must pre-register by calling NDC at 641-787-8210 or at email@example.com. Registration deadline is March 13.
"As we work to best serve out students and help them reach their educational and career goals, we'd also like to serve our employers," said Mary Entz, provost of the Newton DMACC Campus said. "Hopefully, a job fair will help employers find new talent. It will also provide an opportunity for employers to speak directly with job seekers about specific skill sets required for certain types of employment.
If you are a business and would like to participate in this free job/career fair, there is still time. To date several employers have signed up to have representatives present at the Job/Career Fair.
Job seekers are encouraged to bring your resume and dress in appropriate attire for your industry.
