Three games in one day proved to be altogether too much for the Marshalltown Community College softball team.
The Tigers (1-4) lost three times in two cities on Monday, falling twice to Murray State College in Tishomingo, Okla., before journeying on to Seminole, Okla., for one more game against Seminole State College.
The day began with an 11-10, extra-inning loss to Murray State. MCC amassed 14 hits but could not hold off the host Aggies.
Brooke Dunkin, Erica White, Emmeline Huffaker, Hailee Beals and Kyndal Milder each had two hits for the Tigers, including a double for Dunkin, Beals and Milder, and three RBIs for White and Milder. Marissa Basham's only hit was a home run.
Brianna James took the loss in 3 2/3 innings of relief in the circle.
Taylor Vaske pitched four innings and suffered the defeat in game two, 11-3. Dunkin had three of the team's 11 singles, while White had two.
In the evening's finale at Seminole, the host Lady Trojans (9-5) prevailed 10-2. Vaske went another four frames in defeat.
Basham finished 2-for-3 with a double, triple and run scored, while Dunkin was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run to lead the Tiger offense. Beals, White and Sarah Wilson added one hit each.
Marshalltown's next games will be a part of another long road trip.
The Tigers stop in Carterville, Ill., on Sunday to face John A. Logan College. MCC goes on to Tennessee for games against Volunteer State and Dyersburg State March 11-12.
MCC's home opener will be March 14 against Indian Hills.
