Local pastor charged with OWI

Iowa State Troopers arrested a local pastor for operating while under the influence Saturday.

Gregg Davison, 57, of Marshalltown, appeared through his attorney Wednesday after posting his $1,000 bond following his arrest.

Davison is a pastor at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and is the chair of the Human Rights Commission.

Police also cited Davison for failure to obey a stop sign and an improper tail light, both traffic violations. His arraignment is set for 1 p.m. March 19.

Incidents

On Feb. 25, James Edwin Bjorenson, 302 S. 2nd Ave. Apt. #4, reported the theft of a Sylvania 28 inch TV from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $150.

On March 6, a person associated with JBS Swift, 402 N. 10th Ave., reported damage to the left front bumper and quarter panel on a 2008 Lexus RX350 while parked at Swifts. Estimated value of damage was $800.

Thursday

Alexa Triplett, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a selling alcohol after hours charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning April 5 until the debt is paid.

Andrew Charles Stengele III, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a probation revocation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11 a.m. on March 18. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

Steven Craig Kent, 8 Santa Barbara Dr. Apt. #6, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-meth with the intent to deliver charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 26. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date. Furthermore, the court ordered that he be photographed and fingerprinted per the instructions from the County Attorney's Office. Kent was released on his own recognizance.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Michael Wayne Young, of Tama, was arrested for driving under suspension.

On Monday, Zane Aaron Dolash, 717 N. 5th Ave. Lot #26, was arrested for two counts of theft-fifth degree and public intoxication.

Accidents

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Wendi Sue Plain, 1407 S. 2nd Ave., was northbound on Summit Road near the intersection with Radio Tower Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway causing minor front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Plain vehicle was estimated at $1,600.

On Feb. 26, a pickup driven by Allison Maddox Handsaker, of Colo, was eastbound on Iowa Avenue East when, as it passed Olive Branch Road, it went out of control and entered the south ditch where it rolled over onto its top and came to rest. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Handsaker pickup was estimated at $2,000.

On Feb. 22, a car driven by Sergio Emilio Huerta, 533 N. 3rd St. Apt. F, was northbound on North Center Street when during an argument with a passenger the driver let the car enter the east ditch causing minor front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Huerta car was estimated at $1,700.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two fire calls at 1406 Fairway Dr., and 511 E. Olive St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 503 Woodland St., 408 W. High St., and 420 Swayze St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire call at 906 N. 5th Ave., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2605 S. Center St., 504 Sharon Ave., 1008 S. 6th St., 208 N. 11th Ave., 102 W. Anson St., and 604 Lee St.

Wednesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two medical assists with the EMS crew to 720 N. 5th Ave., and 909 Prairie Lane, and five fire calls to: 1207 Glenwood Terrace, 2510 S. 6th St., 8 N. 1st Ave., 3202 S. 6th St., and 2 Columbus Dr.
