Logan Schmidt and Kirsten Bolle are the parents of a son, Ryker Matthew Schmidt, born at 11:10 a.m. on Feb. 15 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Grandparents are Tina Bolle and Kevin Frohwein, of Albion, Cindy Kelley, of Marshalltown, and Danny Schmidt, of Fort Dodge.

Jeremy Odom, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $228.75 in court costs for a total of $566.25, due immediately.

Brenda Gomez, 306 N. 7th St., made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a open container charge and a possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 charge. Gomez will hire Michael Marquess to represent her in these matters before the court. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 27. The court ordered that she obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of these cases.

Autumn Ann Erickson, of Yankton, S.D., made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 3 p.m. on March 18. Erickson was released on her own recognizance.

Luis Fernando Suarez-Avalos, 106 N. 7th Ave., made an initial appearance through an interpreter on a possession of meth-amphetamine with intent to deliver charge, a tax stamp violation charge and a prohibited acts charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 18. Bond is set at $100,000 cash only.

Carl Clure, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The contempt hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on March 18. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party. The court ordered that if Clure possessed any firearms or ammunition he is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Monroe Wanatee, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 2 p.m. on March 18. Bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Gerald Price, of New Providence, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a no insurance charge and a open container charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 27. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Maria Perez, 711 W. Church St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a no insurance charge and a operation without registration charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 27. Perez was released on her own recognizance.

Shay Legg, of Nevada, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning April 5 until the debt is paid.

Joseph Harmon, address unknown, made an initial appearance on two counts of a harassment-first degree charge. Darrell Meyer, appointed on other cases, will handle the harassment charges. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 18. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. No-contact orders were issued for the protected parties.
