Candice L. Stivers, 63, of Auburn, IL died at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, MO.
Candy was born on August 5, 1949, in Marshalltown, to Eugene Richard and Elizabeth Lou (Howell) Lindblom. She married Paul Stivers on September 12, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown.
Candy graduated from Marshalltown High School and the Dental Assisting Program at Marshalltown Community College. She worked as a dental assistant for several years and as an administrative assistant for the American Baptist Churches of the Great Rivers Region for the last 33 years.
Candy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a heart for helping others in any way that she could. She was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Springfield, IL where she enjoyed singing in the choir, helping with children's programs, and going on domestic and international mission trips. She also loved knitting, cross-stitching, bird watching, and tending her flower and vegetable gardens.
Candy was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Lindblom, her mother, Elizabeth Lindblom, and her brother, Kevin Lindblom.
Candy is survived by her husband, Paul Stivers of Auburn, IL; two sons Jim Stivers (wife, Melanie) of Springfield, IL and Frederick Stivers of St. Louis, MO; one granddaughter Dahlia Stivers; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed, but we know that heaven has just received one of its most precious ambassadors.
Visitation and Memorial Service: A memorial service to honor Candy's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Central Baptist Church, 501 S. 4th Street, Springfield, IL, 62701. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
