AMES - Former Marshalltown Community College star Will Clyburn hauled in another award on Tuesday.
This time, the now Iowa State Cyclone Clyburn was named to the all-District VI team by the United States Basketball Writers Association.
A native of Detroit, Mich., Clyburn averaged 15.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in his first and only season with the Cyclones after transferring in from Utah. He was recently named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and was the only player in the league to rank in the top five in both scoring and rebounding.
Clyburn leads the team in 20-plus scoring games with seven and is second on the team in double-doubles with seven. He averaged 23.5 points per game in his last two games and is 15 points shy of 1,000 points in his two-year collegiate career.
The Cyclones (21-10) will play Oklahoma (20-10) in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament on Thursday. The game will tip-off at 11:30 a.m. from the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
