FAMILY LIFE

Family: My parents are John and Marilyn of Burlington. I am the youngest of four children - my oldest sister, Kathy, lives in the Chicago area, a sister, Susan, lives in Burlington and my brother, Mark, lives in Bay City, Mich. I have been married to Greg for 17 years. We have three sons, Dylan, 16, Brady, 14 and Conley, 11.

Pets: We have a pug named Rose who is five years old and a Golden Retriever named Duke who is eight months old.

Hobbies and interests: I am usually at one of my son's baseball, basketball or football games. If I do get any spare time when not at those, I enjoy home decorating and initiating home projects for my husband to complete.

WORK

Occupation: Human Resources Director for the city of Marshalltown

What that means: I am responsible for the benefits administration, workers compensation, recruitment, employee relations and day to day human resource activities for city employees and retirees, as well as making sure that policies, procedures, union contracts and employment laws are being followed.

Tenure: Six months.

Best part of job: The people and the variety that my job offers me. No day is ever the same.

FAVORITES

Books: I am working toward a masters degree. Consequently, textbooks are the only material I get to read now.

Movie: "The Guardian," directed by Andrew Davis.

Food: Tacos Carne Asada

Sports: Michigan State Spartans of the Big 10 Conference and any team my sons are playing on at the time.

COMMUNITY

Best part of living here: Marshalltown has a small town feel but with many of the amenities a larger community offers.

Most influential persons: My parents and my husband who taught me to make the most of every opportunity in one's life. They have always listened, supported me, and have given me solid advice.

Advice on life: "In the middle of every difficulty comes opportunity." Albert Einstein
