Nic and Ginna Randall, of Marshalltown, are the parents of a son, Henry Benjamin Randall, born at 2:48 p.m. Feb. 28 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Henry joins siblings Myles, Kade and Eli. Grandparents are Tim and Becky Vaughn, Bruce and Jan Randall and Diane and Steve Hunter. Great-grandparents are Don and Daphne Sears, Bev Pull and Bud and Maxine Randall.

Tim Garrett, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on April 3. Garrett was released on his own recognizance.

The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date. He was released through the Department of Correctional Services pending the conclusion of this case and is to sign a pre-trial release by 4 p.m. on March 18.

Accidents

On Tuesday, a pickup driven by Raymond Lee Doser, of New Providence, was southbound in the 200 block of South Ninth Street approaching West Boone Street when a vehicle driven by Ramona Chavez-Lopez, 404 S. 3rd St., which was traveling west on Boone Street stopped and then proceeded to make a right hand turn onto Ninth Street and the two collided. Doser and Chavez-Lopez were both transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $8,000 each.
