Deer antler scoring seminar on April 9

March 28, 2013

If you have ever wondered exactly how they arrive at the figures used in recording the size of a whitetail deer's antlers, this is your chance to learn how it's done.

The Marshall County Conservation Board will hold a deer antler measuring seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 9 at the Grimes Farm & Conservation Center just west of Marshalltown. The Grimes Farm is just west of Highland Acres Road between West Lincolnway and Iowa Avenue.

"Following a program explaining how the antler measuring is done, official scorers will be working one-on-one with persons bringing in antlers to be scored," MCCB Director Mike Stegmann said. "Scoring will be limited to whitetail deer antlers, but individuals may bring in as many antlers as they wish. Both newly harvested and old antlers are welcome."

For more information, contact the MCCB at 641-752-5490.
