Storm spotter training set for April 3

In preparation for severe weather season there will be a free Storm Spotter Training in Marshalltown from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 3 at Iowa Valley Continuing Education, 3702 S. Center St., room 808.

The National Weather Service, Marshall County Emergency Management and Iowa Valley Continuing Education are hosting the storm spotter training class. The instructors are NWS meteorologists.

During their multimedia presentation you will learn information about severe weather climatology in Iowa, how to identify severe weather in the field, thunderstorm types and threats, how to report severe weather, severe weather spotter networks, safety considerations and more. This class has been approved for 2.0 optional education hours for EMS professionals.
