Jamie's friends Lanette McWilliams and Matt Gannaway have begun fundraising efforts to assist with the growing costs of caring for Jamie.
The two have already put donation bins in surrounding businesses. They have also organized a fundraiser May 4 at the Knights of Columbus, 201 W. High St.
The event will feature a vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Local businesses including the Purple Cherry, UAW 893, Hy-Vee, Totem Bowl, the Orpheum, Sit 'n Sleep, Designs by Dawn and Lowe's Flowers have already made cash and door raffle prizes. Smokin G's will cook pulled pork sandwiches.
In addition to door prizes, the fundraiser will have a silent auction and karaoke.
Those looking to donate but are unable to attend the fundraiser can make checks out Jamie Giannetto Fundraiser and mail them to Pinnacle Bank, 2206 S. Center St. Marshalltown Iowa, 50158.
