WAUKEE - The Marshalltown girls' track and field team ran into some stiff competition at the Waukee Girls Invitational on Tuesday night.
Going up against some of the best programs in the CIML and the state of Iowa, the Bobcats scored just two individiual finishes in the top 10, but senior Eisha Oden grabbed the silver medal in the 200-meter dash.
The Bobcat speedster crossed the line in 26.84 seconds and trailed behind Dowling Catholic's Jessica Campbell by just .78 of a second. Campbell also was second in the 100-meter dash.
The only other individual event to score a top 10 finish for Marshalltown was sophomore Rachel Blagg as she crossed the line in eighth place during her 800-meter run.
Blagg hit the line 2:33.23 and finished just more than three seconds out of a top-five tally.
The best relay finish for the Bobcats was ninth in the sprint medley. The foursome of Chione Brooks, Emily Murtha, Cassidy Blackford and Sabrina Daughtery crossed the line in 2:06.13.
Brooks, Murtha and Blackford - along with Karli McClure - also scored a top 10 finish in the 4x100 relay. That team finished in 55.10, trailing Des Moines East by just .10 seconds.
The Waukee invitational did not keep a team score.
