OSKALOOSA - The South Tama County girls tennis team used strong play in singles to gain momentum in its season opener and then the doubles teams pushed the Trojans to the win.
South Tama won the first five singles matches on the night and then dominated doubles play with five more wins and beat Oskaloosa 10-1 in the Trojans' season opener.
Emily Martin, Madison Baack, Tori Appelgate, Regina Balderas and Caitlin Svacina all won in singles action to give the Trojans a 5-1 lead heading into doubles play.
Martin and Baack teamed up in doubles to grab another win, while the Trojans also got victories from teammates Appelgate and Balderas, Lean Mann and Svacina, Taylor Muhlstein and Natasha Musgrave and Ali Vavra and Mollie Morgan.
Oskaloosa's only win on the day came at No. 6 singles where Bethany Rowley defeated Muhlstein 10-5.
The Trojans next play Monday at home against Marion. The match begins at 4 p.m.
