David Larson has been a big fan of the old science fiction movies from the 1950s and 60s.

His interest in these types of out-of-this-world experiences is furthered with his second book in that realm, "Ghost Saucers in the Sky. It is a follow up to his first book "Shake, Rattle & Rocket."

It follows the lead character Captain Eddie Atomic and his shipmates, Spunky and Kioko.

Marshalltown native David Larson, who writes under the name DC Larson, has published his second science fiction book titled “Ghost Saucers in the Sky.”

"It's just their adventures in outer space," Larson said.

Larson, a 1977 Marshalltown High School graduate, moved to Waterloo from Marshalltown in 1992. His mother, current Marshalltown resident Jean Russell Larson, has published several books herself.

"I owe her a tremendous debt for inspiration and ability," he said.

Through the years, Larson has been very active in writing CD reviews and band profiles in rock magazines and is also a political writer.

Larson is already working on the next book in the science fiction series.

"I just have fun with these characters and I don't see an end in sight for their adventures," Larson said.

The book is $10 and available through his blog at
