MCC music instructor hosts two saxophone recitals this spring

Marshalltown Community College assistant music professor Meghan Schumacker will host two saxophone recitals this spring in Marshalltown.

The first recital is April 27, at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. The performance kicks off at 7 p.m. and will feature a mixture of French music, ragtime and contemporary. Different guest musicians will accompany Schumacker throughout the concert, including John Devlin, Colette Benge, Cindy Lin, Brett Umthun, Adam Swope, Ron Ohrt, Megan Assenmacher-Umthun and Jody Brintnall.

Then on May 4, a Saxophone Quartet will be featured, consisting of French Quartet tunes as well as a tribute to Scott Joplin and Glenn Miller. The quartet consists of Megan Assenmacher-Umthun, Jody Brintnall, Schumacker and Ron Ohrt.
