CEDAR FALLS - Rachel Blagg and the sprint medley relay team each took home second-place finishes Tuesday at the Tiger Invitational in Cedar Falls, but the Bobcat girls track and field team placed eighth out of 13 teams in the team standings.
Blagg crossd the line in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 26.28 seconds to take the silver medal, while the sprint medley relay team of Chione Brooks, Karli McClure, Jasmine Scott and Eisha Oden hit the line in 1:54.08.
The best finish outside of those two races came in the 4x200 relay. The foursome of Brooks, Scott, Saryn Case and Oden placed third in 1:51.33.
The 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams also were fourth and Michaela Huey was sixth in the 3,000.
Huey ran a lifetime best time of 11:45.13 in the 3,000, while the 4x400 team of Blagg, Case, Scott and Oden crossed the line in 4:16.93. The 4x800 team of Leah Paustian, Wynn Tan, Victoria Jones and Blagg crossed in 10:49.14.
Jones also was eighth in the 800 and Maddison Wignal was 10th in the discus.
This was the last chance the Bobcat girls had to qualify for the Drake Relays. Final times for the Drake Relays have to be turned in by 11:59 p.m. Thursday. The next meet for MHS will be Monday as the girls host the Bobcat Invitational at 5 p.m.
