A return to the sea

April 19, 2013
By Laura Armstrong , Times-Republican

Based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, Walt Disney takes us on a seafaring adventure in "Kidnapped!" Follow young David Balfour, who has just lost his father, as he attempts to make his claim to his inheritance. However, his scheming Uncle Ebenezer has other plans for David and his inheritance. Uncle Ebenezer sells David into indentured servitude to a horribly, dastardly Captain Hoseason, who plans to kill David while they are out at sea. David will have to learn who to trust as he is trapped at sea and must fight to save his very life. Danger, adventure, and excitement abound in this tale of swashbuckling escape.

Told in the tradition of Walt Disney's Treasure Island, this live-action film is a part of the Disney collection of adventure novels brought to the big screen. Filled with dramatic scenes of sword fighting and rough sea traveling, Kidnapped! tells the tale of one young boy's courage to face those set on removing him from his rightful claim to his father's legacy.
