VAN HORNE - Paige Van Dyk picked up her second medalist honors in as many tournaments as the shorthanded South Tama girls' golf team competed Saturday at the Benton Invitational.
Only two Trojan golfers finished the tournament, as Carrie Cibula tied for fifth overall with her round of 93. The event started later than the 8:30 a.m. scheduled time because of frost on the course, and a number of STC golfers eventually withdrew during their round because of prom.
Van Dyk had a three-stroke cushion atop the field with her 1-over-par round of 75. The junior also won the West Marshall Invitational earlier in the week.
Independence won the eight-team invitational with a 383 team score, followed by Vinton-Shellsburg (396) and Waterloo Columbus (404). Columbus had three of the top 10 individual scores.
The Trojans return to action with an NICL West Division dual meet against East Marshall on Tuesday at Wandering Creek Golf Course in Marshalltown.
