Teacher Jill Simons said her student, Stella Roseburrough-Borras, excels in her academics, but she goes far beyond that.

The sixth grader at Marshalltown Area Catholic School also makes an impact on her community.

"She is always willing to provide service to others, whether it be in the classroom, church or community events," Simons said.

The 11-year-old said she loves being active in her community.

"It's fun and I get to meet a lot of new people," Roseburrough-Borras said.

Simons said Stella is a creative, out-of-the-box thinker. The student said she would like to become a teacher someday.

"You get to interact with a lot of kids and it sounds fun," she said.
