URBANDALE - Three matches were cancelled due to rain, but not much stopped the Urbandale girls' tennis team before that point as the J-Hawks won all eight matches in an 8-0 victory over Marshalltown on Monday.
The Bobcats did not win a set and only took 11 games on the day in the loss and dropped to 1-3 on the season.
Rachel Faircloth, Rhetta Wenk and Maggie Kelehan each took two games in the top three singles spots but Michelle Van Roekel, Madeline Heer and Abby Hart each won 6-0, 6-2. Ashley Beaty also won two games in her No. 6 singles match but lost 6-1, 6-1 to Madeline Trott.
Van Roekel and Herr finished third in Class 2A state doubles last season.
Only two doubles matches were completed before the rain, and Urbandale dropped just two games in those four sets.
The Bobcats will next play at home against Fort Dodge on Thursday. Action at the MHS courts begins at 4:15 p.m.
