Tanya's Studio of Dance will present its annual recital "When I Grow Up ..." at 2 p.m. on May 5. This event is held at the Marshalltown Community Auditorium.
This year's theme introduces many occupations that the students may choose to enter as they grow up. Fifty-one different occupations are represented by the students as they dance to music associated with each, and dress the look of that particular job. There are groups representing teachers, U.S. Navy, cops, U.S. Army, astronaut, train conductors, nurses, boxers and many more.
Highlights in the recital will include a daddy and daughter dance of 50 couples, a mother and daughter dance of 40 couples, a large group fireman dance with 36 dancers, a large group of 70 hip hop dancers, nine graduating seniors and a grand finale of 80 dancers.
