Gerald "Jerry" Frederick Pease, 91 of Melbourne, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home.

Per Jerry's wishes; cremation rites have been accorded and there is currently no services scheduled. Memorials may be directed towards the St Johns United Church of Christ in Melbourne, Iowa. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Jerry and his family. Phone 641-844-1234.

Jerry Pease was born on August 5, 1921, in Mt Clemens, Michigan to Waldo and Bessie Smarthwaite Pease. He graduated from San Diego State University with his Master's Degree in Education. In January of 1946, Jerry married Evelyn Janbazian. Jerry served our country honorably in the United States Navy from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1954. While in the Navy; Jerry became a Master Chief and had over 225,000 flight miles. Jerry served our country during the attack on Pearl Harbor and was even witness to the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. In 2011, he had the honor to be on a Freedom Flight to Washington, D.C. Jerry was very proud to have served his country.

Left to cherish his memory is his children: Walter (Vicky) Pease of Pleasant Hill, California; Edward (Mary Ann) Pease of San Mateo, California and Fred (Kathy) Pease of Virginia. Grandchildren: Victoria, Kevin, Tammy, Jeffrey, Amanda, Brian and Jennifer. Great grandchildren: Cody, Collin, Tristin, Alida and significant other Charlotte A Klatt.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and brother Wayne Pease.
