The Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force arrested a local man for trafficking meth Thursday night.

Task force deputies executed a warrant on 2325 Marshalltown Boulevard, Apt. C - the home of alleged meth dealer Ricky Dale Harms, 55. While executing the warrant, deputies also arrested Amy Rodriguez, 34, a neighbor of Harms who police believe to be one of his customers.

Det. Joel Phillips, with the task force, said police seized 30 grams of meth from the apartment and found a user amount of meth as well as a pipe on Rodriguez.

Phillips said there is no indication that Harms was manufacturing the meth and does not expect any further arrests associated with the incident. Police became aware of the drug den following a series of citizen complaints.

Police charged Harms with possession of meth with intent to distribute, a Class B felony, prohibited acts, an aggravated misdemeanor, and failure to affix a tax stamp, a Class D felony.

Harms made his initial appearance Friday where the judge ordered him to undergo a substance abuse evaluation upon his release and set his bond at $100,000 cash or surety. His preliminary hearing is set for May 6.

Rodriguez is charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, both simple misdemeanors. The court released her on her own recognizance and ordered her to undergo a substance abuse evaluation. Her preliminary hearing is set for May 15.

A Class B felony is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
