GRINNELL - The Marshalltown boys' tennis team won all but one match in both singles and doubles Monday and breezed past Grinnell 9-2.
Ryan Shomo started things off with a three-set win at No. 1 singles. He won the super tiebreaker 10-8 but rallied from being down 7-3. Shomo is now 7-1 on the season.
Kalei Platt also improved to 7-1 at No. 2 singles following his straight set win, while Blake Gimbel and Adam Podhajsky both won their matches 7-6, 7-6. Jameson Eberline scored the other singles win following his three-set super tiebreaker victory.
Gimbel and Eberline improved to 2-0 as a pair after winning their No. 2 doubles match 6-2, 6-4 and the other three wins in doubles also came in straight sets. Podhajsky and Lents also improved to 2-0 as a duo.
The lone losses on the night for the Bobcats came at No. 6 singles where Drayton Lents lost in straight sets and at No. 1 doubles where Shomo and Platt suffered their first loss as a team, losing in two sets as well.
The Bobcats next play today at 4 p.m. at home against Ames.
