DUBUQUE - North Tama High School graduate Wyatt Hanus has been invited to participate in the Minnesota Vikings' rookie minicamp, the University of Dubuque athletic department announced Wednesday in a press release.
Hanus, a quarterback, was the 2008 Iowa Football Coaches Association Class A Player of the Year after helping lead North Tama to the state championship game. A three-year starter, Hanus broke 11 individual school records as the Redhawks went 29-5 during that span with three state playoff berths.
At Dubuque, Hanus was the 2012 Iowa Conference Offensive MVP and a Gagliardi Trophy finalist.
The Spartans won the IIAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs during his junior campaign.
Hanus graduated from Dubuque as the school's career leader in passing yards, completions and touchdowns. He also was a four-time academic all-conference recipient and twice earned academic All-America honors.
He will attend the Vikings' rookie minicamp May 3-5 in Eden Prairie, Minn. The minicamp will include all of the Vikings' 2013 NFL draft selections, undrafted free agents and other invitees.
