Melvin P. "Mel" Kramer, 86, of Allison, Iowa, formerly of Eldora, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Lunch and fellowship will follow the service at the church in Eldora, and then graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Allison Cemetery south of Allison, with coffee and fellowship to follow at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. A memorial fund has been established to Cedar Valley Hospice. Mel is survived by his wife, Marcy; son, Jeff Kramer and his wife Nancy of Hampton; daughters, Julie Gowans and her husband Doug of Cedar Falls, Jill Ahnen and her husband Jon of Clive, and Jennifer Johnson and her husband Greg of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Don and Jeanne Kramer; step-children, Marcy Lynn (Dave) Ubben, Kent (Melaine) Brandt, Stacy (Rod) Wangsness and Amy (Chuck) Illg; and 10 step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
