A replica of Marshalltown High School’s Roundhouse made from canned goods and bags of rice is shown at the Marshall Town Center Wednesday. The sculpture was one of 21 at MTC, as part of a local contest among businesses to “can hunger” and assist the Emergency Food Box. Area banks, JBS, Marshalltown Community College, MTC, its tenants and the Times-Republican have sculptures on display. Area residents may vote for their favorite sculpture by donating canned goods at the sculpture site. Each can is a vote. All donations and items used in sculptures will be donated to the EFB. In 2012, the EFB assisted 9,952 persons and provided groceries for 119,424 meals. The contest runs through May 12, and winners will be announced May 13. For more information contact 641-752-6200.
