Street closing for MACS SK Run/Walk Event on Saturday

May 16, 2013
Times-Republican

The Marshalltown Police Department will be closing a portion of South Sixth Street from Olive Street to Hibbs Boulevard from 8 to 9:30 a.m Saturday. This road closing is due to the Marshalltown Area Catholic Schools 5K Run/Walk event.

The Police Department will have officers manning barricades at both ends of the race course. Additional officers will also be posted at Westwood Drive, Southridge Road and Nicholas Drive to help ensure participants can safely complete the event.

The police department is asking residents who live along or utilize South Sixth Street to please take an alternate route to their destinations during that time period. The police department will reopen the roadway for normal driving upon the completion of the event.

Residents who have signed up to receive notifications through the Nixie warning system will receive a reminder of the street closing on Saturday morning.

The police department wants to thank everyone in advance for their patience and help with making this event a safe and fun one for those who are taking part in it.

Anyone with questions about the road closing can contact Captain Michael J. Hanken at 641-754-5758 or by email: mhanken@.ci.marshalltown.is.us.
