Ranked Knights wash out winless South Tama, 10-0

LA PORTE CITY - Shayla Kopriva scored a hat trick and the Class 2A No. 13 Union Community girls' soccer team shut out South Tama on Monday night, 10-0.

The Knights (10-5) led 9-0 at the intermission before finishing the game with the 10th goal 4 minutes into the second half.

Emily Phillips added two goals and an assist for the Knights, while Tessa Reiter had a goal and two assists. Also scoring goals for Union were Darian Davis, Raini Hilmer, Savannah Jensen and Emily Kuhn.

South Tama goalkeeper Sam Earley totaled 20 saves in the loss, while Grace Kavalier recorded one stop during her time in net in the second half.

The Trojans (0-14) begin postseason play with Thursday's Class 2A regional first-round contest at Independence.
