FAMILY LIFE

Family: My parents are Stan and Inez Winters. My wife of 34 years is Dianna, and we have four sons - Nick, Ryan, Gregg and Evan. All are married. Nick, Sally, Jake, Libby and Owen reside in De Soto. Ryan and Lindsey live in Denver, Colo. Gregg, Jennifer and Noelle are in Iowa Falls. Evan, Katie and Mason live in Ainsworth, Neb.

Pets: No pets, but we raise three to four calves on the acreage.

Hobbies and interests: Diana and I walk and golf a lot. We also enjoy our five grandchildren.

WORK

Occupation: I'm an insurance agent-producer with GNB Insurance, based in Marshalltown. I am licensed in auto, commercial, crop, farm and home insurance.

What that means: My job is to provide information to current customers and prospects to help them make wise financial decisions.

Tenure: I've been selling insurance since 2005. I joined GNB Insurance in February 2012.

If I could change jobs I would do: I farmed until 2001, and I may do it again if the opportunity arises. For now, I work with many farmers and help them with their insurance needs ... so I'm still involved ... just in a different way.

FAVORITES

Foods: I enjoy Mexican foods and pasta.

Sports: The local high school teams. We had four sons heavily involved in sports, so we still go to as many high school sporting events as possible.

COMMUNITY

Most influential people: My dad. With having eight brothers and five sisters, dad showed me hard work and being friendly to all will lead one to a great life.

Local involvement : I've been a member of Lions for six years. I was president in 2011-2012. I'm currently the president of the Meadow Hills Golf Course, a public course east of Iowa Falls. I'm the endowments chairperson at our church.

Advice on life: Be honest, work hard and learn and grow from mistakes.
