With a cast of actors new to MCT along with veterans of past performances; get ready to be transported to the year of 1963.

Director Lisa Naig Hodges invites the audience to sit back and enjoy this visual time capsule.

"We not only incorporate the songs of 1963 but the news headlines, popular game shows and what was playing in the movie theaters," Hodges said.

Writing their own script and integrating all the aspects of life in 1963 was an exciting challenge for Hodges. She was assistant director the 2012 Gala and was happy to put on the directors hat for the 2013 Gala. 1963 was a year of inspiration and malice. With the "Camelot" of the Kennedy's and John F. Kennedy's subsequent assassination to "Beatlemania" to "Let's make a Deal" on TV, "Cleopatra" in the movie theatres and Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

The year encompassed the best and the worst of mankind. It was the year MCT found its permanent home and began a 50-year courtship with the Marshalltown community to provide quality theater at an affordable price.

"This has been really fun and I think the audience will enjoy and appreciate all the hard work that has gone in to making this a Gala to remember," Hodges said.

The 2013 Gala performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Reserve tickets by calling the box office daily between noon and 2 p.m. at 641-752-4164 or get tickets at the door. Doors open one hour before the performance.
