Hillers joins United Bank & Trust

United Bank & Trust is pleased to welcome Abigail Hillers to the Trust Department. Hillers is a native of Cedar Rapids. She attended Iowa State University graduating with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree majoring in English with minors in classical studies and political science. She then attended Valparaiso University in Indiana where she received her Master of Liberal Arts degree in English as well as her juris doctorate degree.

Upon receiving her law degree, Hillers became a partner in a law firm in Indiana where she specialized in estate planning and probate as well as bankruptcies. After moving to Iowa, she became an associate attorney at the Hinshaw, Danielson, Kloberdanz & Haney law firm in Marshalltown.

Hillers will be an active member of the Trust team, assisting clients with financial planning and Trust administration.

"We are excited that Abigail has joined our Trust team. Her education and experience in estate planning and probate makes her a wonderful fit for United Bank & Trust," said Curt Hoff, president at United Bank & Trust.

Hillers and her husband, Tom, have two children and reside in Marshall County.

Iowa Arts Council welcomes new staff

DES MOINES - The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs announced Joseph Piearson and David Schmitz have been named community resource specialists for the Iowa Arts Council.

"We welcome Joseph and David to their new positions with the Iowa Arts Council," DCA Director Mary Cownie said. "Their education and experiences working with cultural arts organizations and individuals across the state will be valuable assets as we move forward in supporting and nurturing the arts in Iowa."

A native of Thayer, Piearson serves as a resource for local arts agencies and organizations across the state in capacity building and organizational development, as well as manages the Cultural Leadership Partners program and Iowa Cultural Trust.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in public relations with a minor in theater arts from Drake University.

Schmitz, a Charles City native, works in community arts development and public art and design. He serves as a resource for artists, local arts agencies and arts organizations, and public art programs across the state, as well as manages the Art in State Buildings and Iowa Public Art Network programs.

He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art from the University of Northern Iowa and Master of Arts in management from Columbia College in Chicago.
