PREP BASEBALL: Sophomore goes distance in West Marshall triumph

STATE CENTER - West Marshall sophomore Dylan Petermeier went the distance in his first varsity start, allowing only three hits in a 7-1 win over Gladbrook-Reinbeck in an NICL West Division baseball make-up game on Wednesday night.

Petermeier struck out five and walked only one, and Gladbrook-Reinbeck's lone run came unearned with two out in the top of the seventh.

Jared Riemenschneider finished 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs to pace the Trojans (8-2, 6-0) offensively. Jake Pszanka was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and Garrett Goodwin was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Joe Zimmerman took the loss for Gladbrook-Reinbeck (3-3, 3-3), going five innings on the mound. He allowed seven of West Marshall's eight hits and all seven runs, walking four and striking out three.

Bryce Ehlers had two hits including a double to lead the Rebel bats.

North Tama 15, Dunkerton 4

TRAER - North Tama scored six times in the third inning and eight more in the fourth, finishing off an Iowa Star Conference beating of visiting Dunkerton Wednedsay.

Brody Hulme was the beneficiary of all the offense, going four innings on the mound for the win. Hulme allowed three earned runs on eight hits, striking out five and plunking two. Caden Stuart struck out two in an inning of relief.

Jacob Wrage was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run and three RBIs to lead the Redhawks offense, which had just eight hits. Brent Billerbeck was 1-for-1, got beaned three times, drove in two and scored three times. Brandon Kaufman had a two-run double while Dalton Hulme and Huston Danker both drove in two runs.

LATE TUESDAY

Gladbrook-Reinbeck 7, South Hardin 4

ELDORA - Gladbrook-Reinbeck scored six times in the final three innings to break a 1-all tie, tallying a 7-4 victory over South Hardin in NICL West Division baseball Tuesday night.

Brady Kuehl went all seven innings for the win for G-R (3-2, 3-2), allowing two earned runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

Camden Kickbush and Trevor Trunck both went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Rebels. Joe Zimmerman and Jacob Smoldt both doubled.

Sam Shindelar took the loss for South Hardin (0-6, 0-5), allowing nine hits and one earned run. He walked four and struck out eight.

David Shindelar was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, and Jordin Wilkie was 2-for-4 with a run for the Tigers.
