Grab your bikes, and grab your skateboards because the 3rd Annual Skatepark Fest is Sunday.

Angela Moon Lins-Eich, skatepark committee chair, said the event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Marshalltown Skatepark, located next to the softball complex on Sixth Street, and there is a $5 entry fee for adults, but kids are free.

"All proceeds go directly to the progress to complete phase two of the skatepark," she said. "We are almost there."

Lins-Eich said there will be food available from Maria's Tacos, Tropical Sno and the Lion's Club will be popping popcorn and live music will be played all day.

There will also be a BMX and skate competition for anyone wanting to compete. Pre-registration can be done at Mike's Bikes in Marshalltown or from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the skatepark. An awards ceremony will follow the competition where they will draw for two BMX bikes signed by professional BMX rider Tony Hamlin, Lins-Eich said.

Lins-Eich said she encourages everyone to come to the fest to support the project of keeping Marshalltown's youth active and healthy.
