ACKLEY - The West Marshall baseball team moved closer to clinching at least a share of the NICL West Division championship by beating up on AGWSR, 9-0, on Friday night.
The Trojans (13-3, 9-0) got six strong innings from Jared Riemenschneider, who improved to 4-0 after striking out 10 and walking five. Garrett Goodwin completed the two-hitter, striking out two in the seventh.
West Marshall used a five-run outburst in the top of the first to gain the upper hand on AGWSR (3-11, 2-8), which suffered its seventh straight defeat.
Jared Johnson went 2-for-5, scored and drove in two while Dylan Petermeier was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Riemenschneider doubled and scored for the Trojans, who had eight hits in collecting their fifth straight win.
Grundy Center 5-20, South Hardin 4-4
ELDORA - The Grundy Center baseball team doubled its season win total on Friday night, taking two from host South Hardin in an NICL West Division twinbill.

The Spartans won the opener in walk-off fashion, 5-4, and then needed only four innings to get through the Tigers in the nightcap, 20-4.
In game one, doubles by Ryon Appel and Austin Burroughs in the bottom of the seventh inning accounted for the winning run, which came with two outs.
Tyler Harken got the win for Grundy Center (4-10, 4-6), tossing two scoreless innings in relief of Jordan Clapp. Clapp, the starter, struck out 13 and walked seven before leaving the mound in a 4-all tie.
Harken also finished 2-for-4 to pace the Spartans offensively.
Sam Shindelar went the distance on the mound for South Hardin (2-10, 2-9).
In game two, Grundy Center scored at least three runs in each inning, capping their season-high output with an eight-run fourth. Grant Weldon got the win, pitching all four innings.
Appel went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Grundy Center, while Weldon was 3-for-3 with a double. Harken was 2-for-3, Dylan Appelgate was 2-for-2 for his first two hits of the summer, while Elliott Eggleston had a two-run double. Burroughs also drove in two runs.
Colo-NESCO 7, GMG 3
ZEARING - Brandyn Niemeyer went the distance on the mound as Colo-NESCO took a 7-3 Iowa Star Conference win from visiting GMG on Friday night.
GMG trailed 7-0 before scoring its three runs in the sixth. Austin Vaughn scored on a double-steal situation, and Bridger Claassen later came across on Noah Thurston's groundout. Tyson Strayer scored the final run for the Wolverines on a single by Jeff Hughes.
Vaughn took the loss on the mound for GMG, allowing three earned runs over four innings. He walked seven and struck out two. Thurston and Tyler Krull combined to close out the game.
GMG hosts a four-team tournament today starting with the Wolverines meeting South Tama at 9 a.m. in Green Mountain. Colo-NESCO faces HLV in the 11 a.m. contest, with the consolation (1 p.m.) and championship (3 p.m.) games to follow.
