SPORTS SHORTS: Pam’s 2-Person Best Shot upcoming

Pam's 2-Person Best Shot tournament will be held July 23 at the American Legion Golf Course with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.

The $11 per-person fee is due when you sign up with Pam at the Legion, and lunch is included. The deadline to enter is July 15.

Greens fees for non-season pass-holders is $23. White tees will be used for men, red for ladies and yellow or red for seniors. Golf carts will be required to keep play moving.

Hole-in-one highlights Noon Lions win

The Marshalltown Noon Lions hosted their annual two-person best shot tournament at Wandering Creek Golf Course, with the team of Doug Weatherman and Ryan Canavan shooting 63 for the win. A hole-in-one by Weatherman on the 114-yard seventh hole sparked the team to victory.

Tim Bell and Mike Yonkin shot 69 to take first in the first flight, while Greg Stalzer and Nick Grossman were second (71), and Roger Schoell and Matt Pearson (77) were third.

The top finishing team in the second flight was Ted Tycheson and Jeremy Andrews, who shot 78. Third flight champs were John Page and Dwight Long (79).

Round of 67 wins Legion 4-gal event

The team of Emily Allison, Peg Kelly, Jackie Bolar and Terri Craft combined to shoot a 67 and win the first flight of the 4-Gal Best Shot hosted by the Women's Legion Golf Association on June 13 at the American Legion Golf Course.

The second flight title went to Sam Bryngelson, Pat Hauser, Lee Malaska and Kathy Cox at 71. Winning the third flight was the round of 73 for the foursome of Jackie Zimmerman, Barb Vovos, Janet Luttrell and Meg Sponseller.

Hole prizes went to Anne Paullus, Linda Anderson, Paula Weaver and LeeAnn Ainley.

ELGA plays points-based par battle

Liz Adams scored 60 points to win the 18-hole championship flight of the Elmwood Ladies Golf Association's weekly event, which on June 25 was a par battle.

Sam Bryngelson totaled 55 for second place in the championship flight. Paula Rutherford topped the first flight with 45 points, followed by a second-place tie between Jackie Bolar and Kathy Cox with 35 points.

In the nine-hole division, Heidi Mann scored 25 points to win with Judy Price (20) taking second.
