WAUKEE - Six-run first innings in both games of a doubleheader helped propel Waukee past the Marshalltown sophomore baseball team in five innings twice on Wednesday, as the host Warriors prevailed 13-3 and 15-4.

In the opener, all six Waukee runs came unearned to MHS pitcher Jack Greene, who allowed one hit and walked four. Luke Severson threw the final three frames, and was the only Bobcat to collect a hit at the plate. Severson was 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Ben Rebik had two RBIs, while Greene stole three bases.

Marshalltown jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the top of the first in game two, but Waukee's six-run response was too much.

Jordan Smith was 2-for-3 with a double, a run, two stolen bases and two RBIs, and Greene was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Joe Rebik added a double and scored a run, while Reggie Johannes and Severson both singled. Johannes took the loss on the mound.

The Bobcats (5-23-1) are back in action today at Des Moines East.

Elmwood reports hole-in-one

Roger Chase of Marshalltown scored a hole-in-one on Elmwood Country Club's 140-yard No. 3 on Wednesday. The shot was witnessed by Dennis Buffington.
