Stuff the Bus is back! The "Stuff the Bus" campaign supports local school children by giving them the necessary school materials to begin a wonderful school year.
This summer the House of Compassion will start gathering school supplies at the bus parked at Walmart. People interested in donating may purchase school supplies at any local retailer and bring donations to Walmart any time during the "Stuff the Bus" timeframe.
The House of Compassion brings back the “Stuff the Bus” campaign to support local school children with the necessary materials to start the year successfully.
Donors and volunteers will "Stuff the Bus" with local school supply contributions in the Walmart parking lot from to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27; noon to 5 p.m. July 28; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 3; and noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 4.
Monetary donations will be used to purchase needed items in short supplies. Anyone interested in donating cash or checks may donate to the House of Compassion between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday or bring it to the bus at Walmart. Checks may be made out to the House of Compassion/School Supplies and sent to the House of Compassion, 211 W. Church St., in Marshalltown.
The "School Supplies Back-pack Give-away" will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 10 and noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 12.
Families interested in receiving donations must first register at the House of Compassion before they will be allowed to receive supplies at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Please bring a copy of the Social Security number of every member in your family to register.
Last year, the House of Compassion helped nearly 900 school children start their school year off well thanks to the generous contributions of our community and the generosity of the people of Marshall County.
