Daniel Buck, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a rabies vaccination violation charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 20 in Magistrate Court.

Shylean Albee, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $25 with a $8.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $93.75 due within 30 days of today's date.

Alexander Joseph Worley, of Melbourne, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 5. Worley was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered him to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Pa Bik, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance through an Burmese interpreter on a public intoxication charge and a trespass charge. He pleaded guilty on both charges. On the public intoxication charge the fine was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The fine on the trespass charge was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75. The court allowed on both charges for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Aug. 14 until the debt is paid.

Dean Wesley Picotte, 1501 Summit St., made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. A scheduling hearing is set for 1 p.m. July 22. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Daniel Shane Warnell, of Eldora, made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. A scheduling hearing is set for 1 p.m. July 22. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

Steven Ray Ralls, of Grundy Center, made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. A contempt hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. July 26. The court appointed Merrill Swartz to represent Ralls in this case. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Michael Shawn Edwards, of Liscomb, made an initial appearance on a assault charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 20 in Magistrate Court. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

On Monday, Mark Alan Havens, 106 N. Ninth St., reported the theft of a Fisher Price stroller from a 2001 Honda Accord while parked at his residence. Estimated value of loss was $125.

On Sunday,Tanner Eygabroad, 1007 S. 12th St., reported the theft of a DK bicycle while at 302 Washington St. Estimated value of loss was $150.

On July 9, Margaret Ruby, 204 N. 14th Ave., reported the theft of five medications, cash, 10 14k gold and gem rings and a 14k gold Star of David necklace from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $4,150.
