A Nebraska man who was helping install a cell phone tower near Dike plummeted to the ground Wednesday afternoon, suffering non-life threatening injuries.
Emergency medical technicians flew Todd Hansel, 29, of Sidney, Neb., by Aircare to Covenant Hospital in Waterloo where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday.
"We are thinking he was on one ladder and adjusting another one, and his safety line got tangled," said Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning.
Penning said Hansel was between 40 and 60 feet from the ground installing a new cell phone tower for Pegasus Tower, a Arkansas-based company, on the west edge of Dike near Highway 20. Injuries to Hansel's legs prevented him from walking shortly after the fall, but he was conscious when first responders arrived on scene just after noon.
No one else was involved in the incident, Penning said.
Dike Fire and Ambulance assisted the Grundy County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office will continue to investigate the fall.
