A $5,000 cash reward is being offered for information about the theft of a vintage safe with approximately a quarter million dollars of silver bars and coins in it.

The Hall Molser safe was stolen during a burglary at Park Elm Apartments, 415 N. Third St. in Marshalltown, on July 6, according to Craig Brooks, a private detective from Des Moines.

The award is being offered for the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the theft. Cash is also being offered for valuable information in the case.

The initial police report filed by the Marshalltown Police Department did not indicate the value of the belongings in the safe. The police collected evidence at the scene, but have no suspects at this time, according to Capt. Mike Hanken, of the Marshalltown Police Department.
