LE GRAND - First it was new lights, now it's new bleachers and the hope is for a new all-weather track in the next couple of years at the East Marshall High School track and football complex.
The lights and track are part of a fundraising effort at the school. The track fundraising effort still needs more than $200,000. The school district footed the bill on the new bleachers, which were installed recently.
"It brightens the area up," said Scott Wheater, activities director at East Marshall Schools. "It makes it a different presentation."

Wheater said the track and football complex is in some ways the face of the school as it's the first thing people see when they visit Le Grand from Highway 30.
Supporters of the school are now setting their sights on the track project. It was helped this past week by the promise of a $5,000 donation from Great Western Bank.
"It's nice to see things being done," said Connie Allen of the bank, who has ties to the district. "We're hoping this will spur other people to donate."
Phil Anderson, of the East Marshall Scholarship Foundation, said the new bleachers are another step in the right direction.
"The bleachers are a visual statement," Anderson said. "The next step is to get that track part done."
Wheater said the school has been in need of new track for decades. Last spring, the track teams had just five days to be able to use their own track to practice.
