Ben Wollam claimed his third consecutive men's club championship at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course, shooting 65-69-134 for a seven-stroke victory on Sunday.

Wollam shot 139 to win in 2011 - the summer before his senior year of high school - and shot 132 to win last July. His opening 5-under-par 65 on Saturday gave him a seven-shot lead on the field, and a 1-under 69 sealed it on Sunday.

MHS junior-to-be Michael Schrempf shot a 69 on Sunday to finish in second place with a 1-over 141 total, while Greg Van Cleave, Brandon Dutton and Jeff Arment tied for third with 148 totals.

Mike Ward (149), Red Van Cleave (150), Denny Gould (151) and John Wantiez (151) rounded out the championship flight.

John Detrich and Rick Deines tied for first place in the first flight with rounds of 152, while Mike Anderson (154) was third and Ron Estabrook (157) fourth.

The Legion women's title was claimed by Lori Veld, who shot 87-83-170 and won a cardback over last year's ladies champion Jackie Zimmerman. Zimmerman shot 85-85 and finished second.

Third place went to Linda Anderson (172) and Paula Wantiez (175) took fourth.

Elmwood senior, ladies

Elmwood Country Club played its men's senior club championship and ladies' club championship on Saturday.

Tom Apgar's final nine-hole score of 37 helped him surge past Pete Kelly for the Elmwood senior title. Apgar stood second after the first 18 holes with a round of 71 but came out as the winner with a 108 total. Kelly shot 70-42-112, while Jeff Miller carded 72-40-112. Mark Rezac shot 75-39-114 and Ken Bryngelson came in with a 75-43-118.

Miller won the 50-59 low gross title with his 72, while Rezac's net 67 topped the division. Kelly's 70 won the 60-69 age division, with a 61 net for Doug Reese leading the group. Bryngelson's 75 was the 70-and-over gross winner, while Gene Taylor's 66 net took the top spot.

Elmwood's ladies club champion was Julie Lillibridge, who shot a 90 to edge Kathy Cox (91) and Sam Bryngelson (92) for the title.

Cox was the senior club champion with her 91 as well as the net champion with her net 60, finishing ahead of Bryngelson (72) and Kileen Rezac (72).
