The third annual Citizens Academy will begin in September and run for four weeks. Training officers are looking for eight people attend.
Classes will start at 6 p.m. Sept. 10, 17, 24 and Oct. 1. The final class will be the Saturday morning fire training from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 5 with a lunch to follow. This will give citizens of the community a chance to see what firefighters do and the training that is needed to do this job.
Some of the topics that that will be covered during the training time will be: Fitting and wearing all fire fighter gear, search and rescue technique, laying hose to hydrant, deploying hand lines and spraying water, setting up ground ladders, setting up aerial truck and working bucket, work with jaws of life one night, car fire training, gas prop fire, flammable liquids fire, and room and contents fire.
Participants are to bring notes from their doctors to do physically active training.
